Rah, Rah, for Robots 2008-09-22 14:38:23
Great news! The Editors of KNOW's sister publication, YES Mag, have a new book out. Robots: From Everyday to Out of This World is published by Kids Can Press.
In Robots, you can meet mechanical marvels that are defusing bombs, assembling cars, exploring Mars, roaming the oceans, assisting surgeons, guarding homes, and even cleaning swimming pools!
Robots are very much a part of our lives today. They're out there doing any job that is too dangerous, dirty, or dull for humans. But not all robots are hard at work. Some are riding camels, telling jokes, and kicking around soccer balls.
Robots takes you back in time to the earliest robots, many of which were toys. Then it zooms in on robots today and catches them at work and play. And it peers into the future, where humanlike androids may one day learn new tasks.
You can order the book here or from your local bookstore.
If you live in or near Vancouver, you can meet Adrienne Mason, the author of Robots, at The Word on the Street, Sunday, September 26th. Look for her in the Kids' Tent at 3:20. And, Jude Isabella, the editor of YES Mag and Adrienne (who's also the editor of KNOW) will be in the Magazine Life tent at 1:00. Come on down and say Hi!
