#12 - Volcanoes
Nov/Dec 2007
Pssst... What do you call volcano? A mountain with hiccups. Of course, volcanoes are a lot more powerful than a little hiccup and in this issue we're taking a closer look. How are volcanoes caused? What happens when a volcano explodes? Do volcanoes do anything good for Earth? We'll also take a trip with an artist as she visits a volcano in Costa Rica and give you directions for making your own underwater volcano.
This month, our KNOW It, You, and Them columns are brought to you by the letter S! On these pages you can learn the superb, scintillating science of sleds, sneezes, and sea dragons. And don't forget to check out the fun activities in KNOW Fun, brought to you by Vulcan, the God of fire and volcanoes.
